A Life in Words
I have always been passionate about writing and storytelling. My friends and family describe me as curious but in truth, I'm just nosy. Once I get hold of an idea I enjoy immersing myself in the research and discovering as much as I can about the background to whichever story I am telling. Then comes the writing, the redrafting and editing, aiming to make my books the very best that they can be.
People Like Us
I was delighted with the book cover for people Like Us and the excellent production of the book. It is such a thrill to hold in my hand my first professionally published book. I now feel that I can honestly call myself an author! An author with a publishing contract: an achievement that has taken a great deal of hard work and determination.
People Like Us is a story set in mid Wales in the late 19th century, a story based closely on the life of my Great Grandmother, her rise from poverty to position of Cook in Gregynog Hall, followed by her slow slide back in to poverty after marriage and later, widowhood. It is the story of many women at that time, at the mercy of their men folk and employers.
"There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you."
